It is just fortunate that I was trained by my Mom to learn domestic chores at an early age. She always told us not to rely on househelp as they will come and go and we can't do anything about it. True enough, in my most recent experience with the  househelp I am lucky that I know my way around the chores I rely on them for. I used to be so stressed when I need to work at home after a long day at the office. At home, all I wanted was to relax and spend quality time with the kids.

Until I learned how to cook. Yup, cooking was my waterloo so to speak. I knew how to cook but I hated doing it. I didn't have the passion to be creative with the meals I used to prepare when I was younger. My hubby was a better cook than I was so I actually didn't feel I should have anything to do with it. And then he had to work abroad. And I had to hear my kids complain that the meals are done repeatedly. So I started meddling with the cookbooks I collected (and never used) since I started to work. Hubby used to tease me what are the cookbooks for when I don't even cook. I told him it was for him. Hehehe.

So I let go of my househelp just last week. It wasn't a pleasant experience. A teleserye-like incident and I wouldn't go into the details. Here I am, with hubby far away and my two kids with me. What's a Mom to do but adjust to the situation. I never enjoyed it as much as I did before. Now I loved working around the house. I involve my kids with the chores and I feel that its better this way. They get to be more responsible. I cook with all the passion and love for my kids and I am loving every minute of it.

We just finished doing the laundry for the week. I am tired but I feel more accomplished as a wife and as a mother. If I had a choice, I'd rather not have househelp around. But the thing is, my youngest daughter will be coming home for good this June and study with her adings. So I guess I still need to hire one soon. But only until she grows up a little bit. And when that time comes, goodbye yaya....hello domestic diva.
